Charging Port Repair

Charging ports are easy to damage. Constant connecting and removal of the connector cord can be hard on the port and move, bend, or damage internal components. This might aso be the result of a dropped phone.

If your phone is not charging correctly, taking a lot of time to charge or not charging at all, then you might want to try out a few things to troubleshoot and attempt to fix the issue.

If the charging port is dirty or dusty, then this might be blocking the connection and needs cleaning. The ideal way of cleaning this would be by using a can of compressed air to remove debris from inside the port. If you do not have a can of compressed air or this does not help, it might need further cleaning. Another option to clean up the outer part of the charging port would be by using a soft brush (could be a tooth brush)

We also suggest to try turning off the device, removing the battery and cleaning the inside port carefully by rubbing a small amount of alcohol very carefully. One should not spray or dump any liquid into the port itself but dip a small piece of paper in alcohol.

The charging cable might also be the issue. Check that you are using the right charger or try replacing the charger with another one for the same device to confirm that the charging cable is good. It is essential to use the right charging cable since some devices have specific power requirements that are not met by other chargers, even when they physically “fit” the charging port on your device.

A damaged or faulty charging cable might not only not charging your device properly but also damaging the charging port even more. Mentioning this, it is essential to always make sure to store the charging cable in the right way and change the cable if this is damaged before it actually does more damage to the charging port.
